Product Details
Robert "Kool" Bell and his brother Ronald formed this Jersey City outfit in 1964, and what followed was one of the most durable runs in American funk and R&B history, spanning hard bop-influenced instrumentals in the early 70s to the polished, JT Taylor-fronted pop crossovers that dominated radio a decade later. The band's catalog bridges two distinct eras of Black American music, making any honest survey of it a study in how groove evolves without losing its foundation.
Vinyl LP pressing. Celebrating Kool's 75th birthday in 2025 and the band's historic induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, this new Greatest Hits collection features a "kool dozen" of the band's best tracks cross the generations, from "Celebration" to "Hollywood Swinging," early tracks like, "Jungle Boogie," and vocal smashes including the newly-perennial, "Get Down On It." An extensive historical essay from a band is featured inside.
