Product Details

Lenny Kravitz recorded Mama Said largely on his own, playing most of the instruments himself and continuing the one-man-band approach that defined his 1989 debut. Released in 1991, the album pushed deeper into his classic soul and funk influences while also revealing a more confessional side, with songs inspired by the death of his mother, actress Roxie Roker.

Though the original vinyl was released was on a single LP and the sound quality suffered as a result, Mama Said is now for the first time being released with better fidelity as a 2 x LP on 180 gram vinyl! Featuring the singles "It Ain't Over 'Til It's Over" and "Always On the Run", this record was a top 40 U.S. album, top 10 worldwide, and went 2x Platinum in the U.S.
