Loreena McKennitt – The Mask and Mirror (2-CD + DVD/Blu-ray)
Product Details
Drawn from the poetry of St. John of the Cross and the imagery of Federico García Lorca, The Mask and Mirror found McKennitt weaving medieval Iberian mysticism with Celtic folk roots at a moment when that kind of cross-cultural ambition was genuinely rare in folk music. The 1994 Stratford concert documents her at home in the community where she built her independent label, Quinlan Road, on her own terms long before that path was common.
The Mask and Mirror (The Definitive Edition) is the second installment in Loreena McKennitt’s ongoing Definitive Editions series. The 2CD/DVD/Blu-ray Audio set revisits McKennitt’s fifth studio album, released in 1994 and shaped by Spanish, Celtic, and Moroccan influences. The self-produced record marked a major international breakthrough for McKennitt, eventually selling more than 3 million copies worldwide. The collection includes the remastered original album, Dolby Atmos & 5.1 mixes, high-resolution stereo audio, plus a restored 1994 Mountain Stage concert broadcast, a 1994 promotional concert in Stratford, Ontario, plus the 1995 television documentary No Journey’s End. More than an hour of spoken-word material features McKennitt revisiting the album through archival interviews and newly recorded liner notes. The package is housed in a DVD-sized casebound book with a 32-page booklet featuring original artwork, archival memorabilia, and a new essay by McKennitt. Limited Edition.
