Product Details

Lush arrived at the turn of the decade as one of the defining voices of the 4AD roster, their early EPs steeped in the label's signature atmosphere while pushing toward something brighter and more melodic. Miki Berenyi and Emma Anderson's intertwining guitars and harmonies drew immediate comparisons to My Bloody Valentine and Cocteau Twins, yet Lush always had a pop instinct that was entirely their own, a quality that made them central to the shoegaze moment and beyond.

Lush's Gala was the band's debut compilation album, comprising their earliest releases - Scar(1989), Mad Love (1990), and Sweetness and Light (1990) - in reverse chronological order, plus two additional tracks (a cover version of ABBA's "Hey Hey Helen" and the extended RobinGuthrie mix of Scar track "Scarlet").Originally released in 1990 as the band's introduction to the US and Japanese markets, the com-pilation's 35th anniversary is being celebrated with a 2025 reissue with new remasters by KevinVanbergen. Back in print for the first time since 1990, the LP features original artwork by V23.
