The title borrows from Vincent van Gogh's last words, and the Manics wore that kind of doomed romanticism like a badge throughout the Gold Against the Soul era. "La Tristesse Durera" was a top 10 UK hit in 1993, a rare commercial peak for a band that always seemed to be fighting against its own accessibility. These Chemical Brothers and Ashley Beedle remixes capture a moment when Madchester's dancefloor energy and Britpop's guitar ambitions were still colliding.
