When the Bronx, the Los Angeles punk band, stripped away the distortion and picked up trumpets and guitarróns in 2009, the music world wasn't sure what to make of it. Turns out, the same raw emotion driving their hardcore records translated naturally into the mariachi tradition, and this debut under the Mariachi El Bronx name proved the side project was something far more serious than a novelty.
