Masayoshi Takanaka – Takanaka (LP Vinyl)

Takanaka's 1976 self-titled LP arrived at a moment when Japanese fusion was staking its own claim on a sound that Miles and Mahavishnu had pointed toward, and Masayoshi Takanaka made clear he had no intention of simply following. A cornerstone of the city pop and J-fusion underground that Western collectors have spent the last decade racing to track down, this pressing brings the original master tape warmth back to a record that rewards repeated listening at volume.
