Product Details
Mei Semones built her following the old-fashioned way, playing relentlessly and letting her guitar work do the talking before the industry caught up to her. Howl finds her arriving at a major label home without sanding down the odd, intricate edges that made listeners pay attention in the first place, a rare thing worth noting.
Japanese American singer-songwriter and guitarist Mei Semones returns with her sophomore album and Verve/Interscope debut, Howl. Blending her idiosyncratic mix of technical bossa nova, J-pop and math-influenced indie jazz with a newfound emotional depth, Semones expands her signature sound into more vulnerable territory.
