Released in 1997 as the second half of what Metallica envisioned as a sprawling double album, ReLoad drew from the same sessions as Load and pushed the band further into blues-inflected, mid-tempo territory that divided longtime fans at the time but has aged considerably well. Cuts like "Better Than You" and "Devil's Dance" showcase a band genuinely experimenting with texture and groove, uninterested in retreading the thrash blueprint that made them famous.
Metallica is continuing to release remasters of their catalog, with the latest being the 4x-platinum ReLoad, available everywhere on June 26th . Produced by Bob Rock, ReLoad is the follow-up to 5x-platinum Load. ReLoad contains fan favorites including “Fuel,” “The Memory Remains,” and “The Unforgiven II.” Remastered by Reuben Cohen at Lurssen Mastering and overseen by executive producer Greg Fidelman.
