Mickey & The Soul Generation – Give Everybody Some (LP Vinyl)
Mickey & The Soul Generation Vinyl Records
Product Details
Texas funk runs deep, and Mickey Foster's Soul Generation carved out their own corner of it with a gritty, polyrhythmic swagger that sat somewhere between the chitlin' circuit and the cutting room floor. This silver vinyl pressing brings renewed attention to a band that deserved far wider recognition beyond San Antonio, keeping the groove strictly instrumental and letting the rhythm section do all the talking it needs to.
Hard Texas funk from the celebrated San An- tonio scene. As Abe Epstein was tracking West Side brown-eyed soul groups on General Mc- Mullen Blvd., Mickey Foster and his biracial Soul Generation band were answering James Brown's call to get on the good foot just south of the River Walk. Collected here are a dozen of their swaggiest and crook-legged instrumentals, a mood building survey of the band's 1969- '77 run, including the paper hit knee-wobbler "Iron Leg."
