Miho Nakayama – Catch The Nite (LP Vinyl)

City pop's late-80s peak produced few moments as finely crafted as Miho Nakayama's work with Toshiki Kadomatsu, whose production instincts helped define the genre's signature blend of sophisticated arrangements and effortless pop melody. Nakayama was one of Japan's biggest idol stars of the era, and this 1988 collaboration captures her at a commercial and artistic high point, with Kadomatsu's fingerprints all over the lush, groove-driven sonics that Western collectors have spent decades rediscovering.
