The 1987 film *Siesta* gave Miles Davis and bassist-producer Marcus Miller a canvas unlike anything in either man's catalog, resulting in one of the most atmospheric and underappreciated collaborations of Miles' final decade. Miller composed and arranged the score, with Miles' muted trumpet floating through it like smoke, closer in spirit to *Sketches of Spain* than to the electric funk the two had explored on *Tutu* a year earlier.
