Al Jourgensen was deep in the grip of heroin addiction during the making of this record, and that darkness bleeds through every track without apology. Coming off the heavier-than-hell *Filth Pig* era, Ministry in 1999 was a band operating on the edge, with Jourgensen openly acknowledging he wasn't sure how much longer he'd survive. The etched fourth side makes this pressing as much an artifact as a listening experience.

Dark Side Of The Spoon was the seventh studio album by Industrial Metal band Ministry, released in 1999. It opens with Al Jourgensen screaming "I just shot a man to death" over grinding guitar riffs and an unrelenting, martial beat. Clearly, these godfathers of industrial rock showed no signs of mellowing as they entered their third decade of sonic terrorism. True to form, Ministry delivered cut after cut of manic alienation on Dark Side of the Spoon. This 2LP deluxe edition includes the original album alongside rare B-side material and an etching on Side D.
