Ronnie Montrose never got the mainstream credit he deserved, but guitarists knew. His 1973 debut with Hagar out front essentially handed American hard rock its blueprint, landing somewhere between the British heaviness of Zeppelin and the raw voltage that would soon define arena rock on this side of the Atlantic. Church and Carmassi locked in as one of the tightest rhythm sections the genre produced.

MONTROSE / NOW PLAYING - Part of Rhino's "Now Playing" Series! - Montrose was a California-based hard rock band. The band originally featured Ronnie Montrose on guitar and future solo artist and Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar. Rounding out the original foursome were bassist Bill Church and drummer Denny Carmassi.
