Product Details

Nduduzo Makhathini arrived at Blue Note carrying a philosophy as much as a piano style, rooted in Zulu spiritual tradition and the healing dimensions of sound that connect his work to the deepest currents of African and global jazz. His previous Blue Note albums established him as one of the most searching voices in contemporary improvised music, and this double LP continues that conversation across 16 tracks, with family literally in the production chair alongside an extraordinary cast of collaborators.

Double vinyl LP pressing. With his stunning 4th Blue Note album, The Myth We Choose, the brilliant South African pianist, composer, healer, and philosopher Nduduzo Makhathini explores the ways in which various societies choose their own myths through song. The album, which was co-produced by his son Thingo Makhathini, refracts Makhathini's distinctive sound through a broad spectrum of sonic settings with bassist Dalisu Ndlazi and drummer Lukmil Perez, plus collaborators including Black Coffee, Shabaka, Omagugu, Thando Zide & Muneyi
