Released in 1969, *Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere* marked the beginning of one of rock's most fruitful partnerships, as Young joined forces with Crazy Horse for the first time. "Cinnamon Girl," "Cowgirl in the Sand," and the epic "Down by the River" all emerged from a single feverish week of songwriting, and the raw, extended guitar interplay heard here became the blueprint for decades of live improvisation to come.
