Released the same year the band quietly tucked "Blue Monday" onto a standalone 12-inch, *Power, Corruption & Lies* captured New Order at the exact moment they stopped grieving Joy Division and started building something entirely their own. Bernard Sumner, Peter Hook, Stephen Morris, and Gillian Gilbert were finding a new language here, threading Chicago house and Kraftwerk-influenced electronics through the DNA of post-punk.

The second album by the English band New Order was originally released in May 1983 by Factory Records. Totally different from the previous Movement, it sees a greater use of synthesizers and a decidedly less dark sound, obtaining a great commercial success. The cover design is the work A Basket of Roses by the French artist Henri Fantin-Latour. The album's designer, Peter Saville.
