Nick Mason – Fictitious Sports (3-LP Vinyl)
Product Details
Robert Wyatt's fractured, emotionally raw vocal style meets Carla Bley's compositionally restless jazz-rock sensibility here, making this one of the stranger artifacts to emerge from the Pink Floyd orbit. Bley, already a towering figure in avant-garde jazz through her work with the Jazz Composer's Orchestra and her own large ensemble pieces, gave Mason a playground that had nothing to do with arena rock, and he ran with it.
Vinyl LP pressing. Nick Mason's Fictitious Sports is the debut solo album by Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason, released in May 1981 in the UK and the US. It was Mason's first major work outside of Pink Floyd. It is sung by Robert Wyatt, except for the opening song. All the songs were written by Carla Bley.
