Otis Redding never got to see "(Sittin' On) the Dock of the Bay" top the charts. He died in a plane crash on December 10, 1967, just three days after recording it, making his posthumous number-one hit one of the most heartbreaking ironies in American music. What you hear across these 16 tracks is a voice that compressed an entire lifetime of feeling into a career that lasted barely six years.

Nothin' but essential soul smashes! Includes (Sittin' on) the Dock of the Bay; I've Been Loving You Too Long (to Stop Now); Tramp; Respect; Try a Little Tenderness; I've Got Dreams to Remember; Mr. Pitiful; Shake; Satisfaction; My Lover's Prayer, and six more.
