Recorded just months after Wings formed in 1971, Wild Life captures McCartney deliberately pushing back against the polished studio craft that defined his Beatles years, embracing looseness and live-in-the-room energy at a moment when critics were sharpening their knives. The band lineup here, with Denny Laine and Henry McCullough, would go on to evolve considerably before Wings hit their commercial stride with Band on the Run.
