Phil Collins – Face Value (180 Gram LP Vinyl)

Stepping out from behind the kit and away from Genesis, Phil Collins released Face Value in 1981 as a deeply personal record shaped by the pain of divorce. The drum sound alone changed pop music, with Hugh Padgham's gated reverb technique on "In the Air Tonight" becoming one of the most imitated textures of the decade. It's a reminder that some of the era's most emotionally raw songwriting came wrapped in immaculate production.
