Phish reconvened after a five-year hiatus with more to prove than most bands face in a career, and *Joy* arrived in September 2009 carrying the weight of one of rock's most passionate fanbases. Recorded with producer Steve Lillywhite, the sessions captured a band that had spent months recalibrating on stage before committing anything to tape, a sequencing of events that shows in the confidence and looseness of the final performances.

2009 studio album from the reformed band led by guitarist extraordinaire Trey Anastasio. The album was produced by Steve Lillywhite and was recorded in New York's Chung King Studios. Many of the album's 10 songs have already been road-tested during the band's reunion tour and retain their fresh, live feel on the studio recordings. The album is already being called the band's best ever studio release.
