Released in 1989 and produced by Gil Norton, Doolittle captured the Pixies at their most melodically ruthless, balancing Black Francis's surrealist screams against Kim Deal's cool harmonies in ways that rewired what rock could sound like. Tracks like "Debaser," "Gouge Away," and "Here Comes Your Man" became touchstones for a generation of bands who followed, from Nirvana on down.
Deluxe 180 gram vinyl re-issues. To date, "Come on Pilgrim" has scanned 147k, "Surfer Rosa" 470k, and "Doolittle" 596k. Look for the band on tour from September through December, and check them out on the cover of Spin's September issue. Best of CD and DVD were released in May 2004.
