Pixies – Wave of Mutilation: The Best of Pixies (2-LP Vinyl)

The Pixies essentially handed alternative rock its blueprint, and this collection traces the fault lines, from the quiet-loud dynamics that Cobain openly credited to the surrealist imagery Black Francis dragged in from David Lynch and suburban nightmare. Spanning their late-'80s and early-'90s peak, it's the rare comp that works as a proper introduction and a reminder to the faithful of just how strange and perfect this catalog remains.
