Quiet Sun – Mainstream: 51st Anniversary Edition (2-CD)
Product Details
Quiet Sun existed for just a handful of years, but their influence rippled far beyond their brief run. Formed by guitarist Phil Manzanera alongside schoolmates at Dulwich College, the band never got to release music during their original existence, making "Mainstream" a genuine artifact of recovered history when it finally appeared in 1975. That it arrived mid-decade, catching Manzanera between Roxy Music obligations, only adds to its unlikely, almost accidental quality.
The new 2026 version of the first Quiet Sun album ‘Mainstream’ available in a CD + Blu-Ray deluxe hardcover mediabook package containing a variety of listening options, and in a single vinyl LP gatefold format containing the 2026 new mix.
Quiet Sun was an English progressive rock band formed in the late 60’s at Dulwich College in South London which broke up in 1971. In 1975, during a break in Roxy Music's touring schedule, the original members reunited to record their only album, "Mainstream."
Though short-lived, their experimental approach and technical proficiency later earned them recognition as an influential cult band in the British progressive music scene.
The album, “Mainstream”, also features Brian Eno and Ian MacCormick (aka Ian MacDonald, ex-Assistant Editor, NME, and writer of “Revolution in the Head – The Beatles’ Records & the Sixties”)
