Product Details

Athens, Georgia's R.E.M. were already two decades into one of rock's most remarkable runs when they played this Paris session, with Reveal fresh off the press and a catalog deep enough to anchor any set. Radio France sessions like this one captured bands in an intimate, high-fidelity context that studio albums rarely replicated, and R.E.M. in 2001 were a band at ease with their own mythology.

Celebrating the 25th anniversary of R.E.M.’s Reveal, The Black Sessions Revealed captures the band live in Paris on May 7, 2001, in a performance recorded for Radio France. The 2-LP gatefold set features 17 songs, pairing Reveal tracks—including “Imitation Of Life”—with favorites such as “Losing My Religion” and “Man On The Moon.”
