Jenny Lewis and Blake Sennett wrote these songs in their early twenties, and the emotional precision they achieved on cuts like "The Frug" and "With Arms Outstretched" still holds up as some of the sharpest indie rock of that era. Rilo Kiley occupied a unique space in the early-2000s Saddle Creek constellation, bringing a Southern California warmth to the label's characteristically earnest Midwestern sensibility.
