Alexander von Meilenwald has spent two decades as one of black metal's most uncompromising architects, building Ruins of Beverast into a singular one-man project that draws as much from doom's suffocating weight and ritual ambient as it does from the Scandinavian tradition. *Tempelschlaf*, German for "temple sleep," references an ancient practice of sacred dreaming within holy sites, a fitting frame for music that has always felt more like a ceremony than a performance.

The Ruins of Beverast were formed in early 2003 and named after the most bloodcurdling event of ancient Mid and Northeuropean eschatology - the collapse the Bifröst. This incident bears analogy to the musical aura of the band, which builds their sonic landscape on a downtuned ground. On their seventh full-length album, Tempelschlaf, their cinematic auditory nightmares reached a new level of psychedelia and insanity.
