Shemekia Copeland inherited the blues honestly, coming up as the daughter of Texas guitar legend Johnny Copeland, sharing stages with him before she was old enough to drive. By the time *Outskirts Of Love* arrived, she had long since stepped out of any shadow and into her own authority, working here with producer Oliver Wood of the Wood Brothers to push her sound into territory that honors the tradition without being confined by it.
