Swoon arrived in 2009 as the Los Angeles quartet's most ambitious step yet, pushing the layered guitar textures and Brian Aubert's androgynous vocals that had made Carnavas a word-of-mouth phenomenon into denser, more atmospheric territory. Produced by Jacknife Lee, the record leaned into a grander sonic scale without losing the band's knack for hooks that sneak up on you.
