Product Details

Billy Corgan conceived Mellon Collie as a double album in the tradition of The Wall and Blonde on Blonde, a sprawling, 28-track statement that captured alternative rock at its commercial and artistic peak. Recorded at Smashing Pumpkins' own Sadlands studio and Chicago Recording Company with producer Flood and Butch Vig, the sessions marked the last time the classic lineup of Corgan, James Iha, D'arcy Wretzky, and Jimmy Chamberlin would record together before Chamberlin's dismissal in 1996.

Originally released October 24, 1995, MELLON COLLIE AND THE INFINITE SADNESS would debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart and was certified 9x platinum by the RIAA. It yielded major hits like "Bullet With Butterfly Wings" the band's unlikely first Top 40 hit the exquisite "1979" and epic "Tonight, Tonight" as well as a thoroughly inspired series of videos. Remastered original album in 4LP Vinyl.
