Meat Is Murder arrived in February 1985 as a deliberately confrontational record, pushing The Smiths beyond the romantic melancholy of their debut into sharper political territory. Morrissey's vegetarian convictions shaped the album's moral center, while Johnny Marr's guitar work ranged from the jangly propulsion of "Rusholme Ruffians" to the grim, grinding title track closer. This Italian pressing restores the original nine-track sequencing Rough Trade intended.

Softpack CD reissue of the second studio album by English band The Smiths. The original UK release had 9 tracks; subsequent reissues added the song How Soon Is Now? to the sixth position. Released on 11 February 1985 by Rough Trade Records, the album reached number one in the UK album charts, remaining in the charts for 13 weeks.
