Steve Forbert arrived in New York City from Meridian, Mississippi in 1976, busking in Grand Central Station before landing a deal with Nemperor Records, and *Jackrabbit Slim* was the album that introduced him to the world. The record captured a young songwriter with genuine storytelling instincts rooted in the American South, drawing inevitable comparisons to a young Dylan without ever quite being fair to what Forbert was doing on his own terms.
This is the original Master, which was released in 1979, featuring the hit single "Romeo Tune". This new Rolling Tide Records pressing- on red transparent vinyl- is stamped from the 2020 Ted Jensen Sterling Sound Nashville Remaster for improved sonic detail!
