The Suburbs – Pagan Ritual: Live At The Cabooze, 1983 (LP Vinyl)
Product Details
The Suburbs were one of the sharpest, most underappreciated bands to emerge from the Minneapolis scene that gave the world Prince, Hüsker Dü, and The Replacements. While their peers often got the ink, the Suburbs built a ferociously dedicated local following through relentless live performances, and the Cabooze on West Bank was exactly the kind of room where that chemistry caught fire.
Live at the Cabooze features the original 5 piece Suburbs lineup and was culled from a two nightstand in 1983. The pristine analog live recordings were captured courtesy of Paul Stark and SteveFjelstad and the infamous Stark/Mudge mobile recording unit that was also notably pressed intoservice for Credit in Heaven and The Replacements' Hootenanny album. Stark - one of the partnersat Twin/Tone, the label responsible for the earliest releases of The Suburbs, Soul Asylum, TheReplacements and many other key artists - has done yeoman's duty preserving and digitizing theTwin'Tone assets over the years. The multitrack recordings for this show (and others...) sat in thevaults for over 4 decades before the stars aligned and A Pagan Ritual: Live At The Cabooze 1983finally saw the light of day. The 12 songs here (6 from In Combo, 5 from Credit in Heaven and"Waiting," their 1982 smash club hit) are presented with a superb sonic sheen that perfectly capturesthe moment with palpable "almost like you were there" quality.
