Product Details

System of a Down arrived in 1998 carrying something the metal world hadn't quite heard before: the weight of Armenian cultural identity filtered through the fury of the L.A. underground. Produced by Rick Rubin, their self-titled debut introduced Serj Tankian's shape-shifting vocals and Daron Malakian's jagged riffwork to a generation that would follow them obsessively for decades.

Described by Kerrang as a "thrilling mix of Middle Eastern folk and Sepultura-style bludgeon," System of a Down's members are of Armenian descent, raised in Southern California. The band has built a hard-core following that originated in L.A. and has been massively developing nationally and internationally based on reviews of their live shows, on-line communication (over 10 fan-driven web sites are on the internet) and general word-of-mouth. Video of "War" serviced to local video.
