Tedeschi Trucks Band – Future Soul (Black Vinyl)
Review
For those new to Tedeschi Trucks Band, their sixth studio album presents an ideal entry point, weaving together past and present. This 11-song collection captures the ensemble's 2026 sound, blending rock, blues, roots, jazz, soul, Americana, and gospel influences.
The band functions as a unified force greater than individual parts. Susan Tedeschi's distinctive voice and guitar work pair with Derek Trucks' virtuosic playing at the forefront. Mike Mattison and Gabe Dixon contribute significantly as songwriters and performers, while dual drumming, bass, and horn sections complete the sonic palette.
Co-produced by Trucks and Mike Elizondo, the album shows evolved sensibilities. "I Got You" features unexpected pop overtones with brass backing, representing the band's breeziest material. "Hero" contrasts this with cyclonic menace.
Yet familiar touchstones remain. "Who Am I" echoes their 2011 "Midnight in Harlem," while "Shout Out" recalls their four-part epic _I Am The Moon_. The elegant simplicity of "What In The World" has become trademark territory.
Less exploratory than previous efforts, _Future Soul_ demonstrates Tedeschi Trucks Band threading together their sonic superhero gear's various threads and colors, delivering sizzling, succinct notes that resonate powerfully.

Product Details
Released March 20, 2026 on black vinyl, Future Soul marks Tedeschi Trucks Band's sixth studio album and their first new material since the ambitious four-album I Am The Moon project in 2022. Produced by Mike Elizondo (Twenty One Pilots, Eminem, Dr. Dre) and co-produced by Derek Trucks, the album was recorded at the band's own Swamp Raga studio in Jacksonville, Florida, and Phantom Studios in Gallatin, Tennessee. The 11-track collection showcases TTB's 12-piece ensemble pushing into new sonic territory while maintaining the soul, blues, and roots rock foundation that earned them Grammy recognition and Blues Music Award Band of the Year honors in 2013, 2014, 2017, and 2023.
The album opens with the infectious "I Got You," written by guitarist/vocalist Mike Mattison, which Derek Trucks describes as feeling "like the band, but doesn't feel like anything we've done before." The title track "Future Soul" features fierce riffs and explosive vocals that prove TTB can still unleash pure rock energy when they commit fully. "Crazy Cryin'" blends gospel-style harmonies with blues grit, while "Who Am I" balances Susan Tedeschi's soulful vocals with Derek's lyrical guitar playing in introspective territory. The songwriting collaboration between Trucks, Tedeschi, Mattison, Gabe Dixon, and Tyler Greenwell pulls from funk, rock, blues, soul, and even punk influences, creating the band's most diverse collection yet.
What makes Future Soul essential is how it captures TTB at their most collaborative and exploratory, with Elizondo's production preserving the organic interplay that defines their live magic while adding contemporary elements like warm bass, layered percussion, and space for the three-piece horn section to shine. For fans who've followed TTB since their Grammy-winning Revelator debut in 2011, Future Soul represents evolution without abandonment—the band pushing forward while staying rooted in what makes them special.
