On September 14, 2019, at the LOCKN' Festival in Virginia, the Tedeschi Trucks Band performed Derek and the Dominos' Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs in its entirety—with Trey Anastasio joining on guitar alongside TTB's already stacked lineup of dual drummers, horn section, and backup vocalists. This 3-LP pressing captures that complete performance, spread across six sides of black vinyl, documenting one of the most ambitious tributes to Eric Clapton and Duane Allman's 1970 masterpiece that any jam band has attempted.

The Layla sessions have always held special resonance for Derek Trucks, whose uncle Butch Trucks drummed for the Allman Brothers alongside Duane. With Trey Anastasio adding his distinctive voice to the dual-guitar attack alongside Derek's slide, the performance honors the original while adding the improvisation and instrumental firepower that defines TTB's approach. "Tell the Truth," "Bell Bottom Blues," "I Looked Away," "I Am Yours," and of course the iconic title track "Layla" all receive extended treatment, with the 12-piece TTB lineup bringing orchestral depth to Clapton and Allman's guitar interplay.

What makes Layla Revisited essential isn't just the note-perfect recreation—it's how TTB and Trey transform the album into something new while respecting what made the original a masterpiece. Derek's slide guitar channels Duane without imitating him, Susan Tedeschi's vocals bring new emotional depth to songs originally sung by Clapton, and the full band arrangement fills out the sonic space in ways the original trio-plus-guests couldn't. This isn't a cover band exercise; it's a reimagining by musicians who understand that honoring the past means pushing it forward.
