Television – Marquee Moon (CD)

Tom Verlaine and Richard Lloyd built guitar interplay that had almost nothing to do with blues convention, threading long, searching lines through each other in a way that pointed toward post-punk before anyone had named it. Recorded at New York's A&R Studio and released in 1977, Marquee Moon landed at the precise moment the CBGB scene was finding its own language, and it remains the clearest document of what made that room so singular.
