Product Details

Punk's most restless band arrived at something genuinely strange with this double LP: gothic atmosphere, psychedelic sprawl, and orchestral ambition sitting alongside the raw energy that made them legends. Captain Sensible, Dave Vanian, and Rat Scabies were never content to repeat themselves, and the tension between the studio experimentation and that unvarnished live side captures a band in the middle of reinventing British rock.

A facsimile of the original album release. Originally released in 1980, The Black Album represented a significant expansion of their sound and style. The Capt, Rat and Dave are joined by Paul Gray on bass. Live side recorded - with no overdubs whatsoever! - in front of The Damned Fan Club.
