Product Details
Mark Kelson has been quietly building one of heavy music's most emotionally precise catalogs since The Eternal's early 2000s formation, drawing from the same well of melancholic grandeur that connects Paradise Lost and early Opeth to the gothic doom underground. The Helsinki-Melbourne axis gives the band a genuinely rare dual identity, rooted in Scandinavian heaviness and Southern Hemisphere atmosphere in equal measure.
Following the widespread acclaim of their 2024 full-length Skinwalker and the evocative companion 2026 EP Celestial, Australian/Finnish dark progressive gothic metal collective The Eternal return in 2026 with their eighth full length studio album and the most immersive and definitive work to date: Obscured Horizons.
The new album refines The Eternal’s signature blend of doom-laden textures, progressive sophistication and haunting melodic resonance, while embracing a broader, more expansive sound that feels both intimate and monumental. With Mark Kelson (vocals/guitars) and Richie Poate (guitars) in Melbourne, alongside Niclas Etelävuori (bass, ex-Amorphis/Flat Earth) and Jan Rechberger (drums, Amorphis) in Helsinki, The Eternal remain a truly international collaboration — unified across continents yet bound by a singular artistic vision.
