Smash Hits arrived in 1969 as a stopgap between studio albums, but it wound up serving as many listeners' first real introduction to Hendrix's electric vocabulary. Compiled during a period when the Experience was already pushing past the boundaries of the British blues scene that launched them, the collection captures a band rewriting the rules of what an electric guitar could say, and do, to a human nervous system.

2010 digitally remastered edition. Painstakingly restored to it's original 1969 format, Smash Hits includes timeless classics like "Purple Haze," "Hey Joe," "Red House," "Fire," plus 8 more hit songs. This digitally remastered, deluxe package features the original three-photo cover image created by Dezo Hoffman plus a stunning 12-page booklet featuring several previously unpublished images of Jimi, Mitch, and Noel dressed as cowboys from the Warner Brothers' film studios in early 1969.
