Liner Notes
Released in 1976 as the Stones were actively auditioning guitarists to replace Mick Taylor, Black and Blue captures a band in creative flux, road-testing new chemistry in real time. Ronnie Wood earned his seat on the strength of those sessions, and hearing the outtakes and jams alongside the finished album puts that audition process in full relief for the first time.
The Rolling Stones - Black and Blue (2LP) Featuring a new Steven Wilson mix as well as a 6 track disc of previously unreleased Outtakes and Jams, including the high-energy disco stomp of Shirley and Company's "Shame, Shame, Shame" and jams with guest guitarists including Jeff Beck, Canned Heat's Harvey Mandel and Robert A. Johnson. Black and Blue from 1976 is the album that inducted Ronnie Wood into the Rolling Stones - featured on 3 tracks and joining the band for the world tour and the next 50 years!
