Released in 1976 as the Stones were actively auditioning guitarists to replace Mick Taylor, Black and Blue captures a band in creative flux, road-testing new chemistry in real time. Ronnie Wood earned his seat on the strength of those sessions, and hearing the outtakes and jams alongside the finished album puts that audition process in full relief for the first time.
