Coventry's finest arrived in 1979 with a sound that fused Jamaican ska rhythms with punk's urgency and working-class frustration, landing at exactly the right cultural moment in Thatcher's Britain. The self-titled debut introduced songs like "A Message to You Rudy" and "Gangsters" to a generation hungry for music with something real to say. Jerry Dammers and company built Two Tone Records into a movement, not just a label.
