Detroit-bred pianist Tommy Flanagan was one of the most in-demand accompanists of the bebop era, lending his elegant touch to landmark sessions with John Coltrane and Ella Fitzgerald before stepping into the spotlight himself. This 1960 trio date captures him in an intimate, late-night setting alongside the impeccable Roy Haynes, whose brush work here is as conversational as it gets.

Originally recorded and released in 1960 this newly remastered edition of The Tommy Flanagan Trio, also known as Moodsville 9, is released as part of the new Moodsville LP Series. Featuring Tommy Flanagan (piano), Tommy Potter (bass) and Roy Haynes (drums), it was recorded at the famed Van Gelder Studio. This new edition is presented on 180-gram vinyl pressed at QRP with all-analog mastering from the original tapes and housed in a Tip-On Jacket.
