Product Details

Jack and Meg White were still virtually unknown outside Detroit's small but fiercely devoted garage rock underground when this record dropped in 1999, rooted in the city's blues and punk lineage that ran from John Lee Hooker to MC5. What they captured here predates the major-label attention and arena stages by years, a snapshot of two people making loud, sparse, honest noise before the world had any idea who they were.

Recorded in a cold, amenity-free studio during the Midwestern winter of 1999, the White Stripes debut LP stands alone as the most raw, unpolished and "Detroit"-sounding recording the White Stripes would ever birth. The vinyl here is cut directly from the original 1/4" master tapes, pressed on 180-gram vinyl and housed in a sturdy, beautiful tip-on sleeve.
