Released in 1979, just a year after their seismic debut, Van Halen II arrived with the band already operating at full throttle, proving the first album was no fluke. Eddie Van Halen's guitar work here, particularly on "Dance the Night Away," showed a player refining his vocabulary in real time, while David Lee Roth locked in as one of rock's great frontmen. The raw energy captured on these tapes is exactly what Bellman's straight-from-the-source transfer preserves.

Van Halen s 5x Platinum second album. Mastering engineer Chris Bellman, who remastered the original albums at Bernie Grundman Mastering Studios, was enlisted for this new version. In order to produce the original sound the band intended, Bellman cut straight from the quarter-inch tapes for CD; for 180-gram vinyl; and for the digital versions.
