Released in 1980 between two of rock's most commercially dominant records, *Women and Children First* found Van Halen leaning into raw, live-in-the-room energy at a moment when they could have chased radio polish. Tracks like "And the Cradle Will Rock..." and "Everybody Wants Some!!" became cornerstones of David Lee Roth-era Van Halen's live sets for years, capturing a band at the peak of their swagger before the arena rock arms race fully took hold.

Van Halen s 3x Platinum third album. Mastering engineer Chris Bellman, who remastered the original albums at Bernie Grundman Mastering Studios, was enlisted for this new version. In order to produce the original sound the band intended, Bellman cut straight from the quarter-inch tapes for CD; for 180-gram vinyl; and for the digital versions.
