Xasthur – Open To Misinterpretation (Digipak CD)

Xasthur's Scott Conner spent years defining a particularly suffocating strain of American black metal from his home studio in California, building a catalog of dense, lo-fi misanthropy that earned a devoted following far outside the genre's Norwegian roots. "Open To Misinterpretation" marks a significant shift, moving away from black metal entirely toward acoustic folk and spoken word territory, a pivot that confounded some fans and intrigued many more. For a project always built around solitude and interior darkness, the change of instruments didn't change the atmosphere much.
