Valentine's Day 1968 found the Dead in one of their most important early residencies, the Carousel Ballroom, a San Francisco dance hall the band would eventually take over and rename the Fillmore West. This show captures the group deep in their psychedelic prime, months before Aoxomoxoa and years before the Dead became the institution we know, when they were still a band actively inventing what it meant to play live.
